为了保证蒸汽机车在架修之后,机车动轴轴距准确无误,在架修作业过程中,对车架、平楔铁、动轴箱进行投线。我段自1975年以来,根据前进型机车的特点,革新了投线工艺,提高了机车的架修质量。采用新的投线工艺后,轴距的成功率由80%提高到94%,托板返工率由20~30%下降到2~3%。同时,还有节省人力和材料等优点。具体的改革如下。
