天坛神乐署被称为清代的皇家音乐学院。2006年2月, 神乐署的一间展厅里展示着来自浙江青田的集石雕技艺和乐器制作为一体的石雕乐器。这些乐器有曲笛、梆笛、口笛、洞箫、南箫、尺八、埙、仿唐七孔笛、葫芦丝、二胡、高胡、京胡、琵琶、古筝、编磬等数十个品种。它们以石材为基本材料,通过传统的乐器制作方法和多种石雕艺术——圆雕、浮雕、镂雕、浅刻、镶嵌等手法所制作的民族乐器和西洋乐器,不仅能供艺术家演奏,还不失为一种精美的石雕工艺品。
