2004年圣诞前夕,笔者应邀对美国几个城市进行游览考察,对他们一些园林绿化的表现手法感受颇深,尤其是看到相邻两个城市之间的绿化骨干树种截然不同时,感慨不已,虽然这与当地的气候差异不无关系,但每个城市的绿化树种都特色鲜明,个性突出,这一点十分值得我们借鉴。在夏威夷,给人印象最深刻的是四处高大古老的椰子树(Cocos nucifera)(图1)。椰子树是这个城市的骨干树种,以量取胜。在道路两侧、沙滩、住宅区随处可见,旖旎多姿,一派海岛风情,它们的高大苍老与周边的低矮花灌木形成鲜明的对比,显得那么与众不
On the eve of Christmas 2004, the author was invited to visit several cities in the United States to conduct expeditions to some of their landscaping practices, especially when they saw the sharp contrast between the greenbacked trees in the neighboring two cities. Although this is not unrelated to the local climate differences, the afforestation species in each city are distinct and distinctive, which is worth learning from.
