According to statistics of the International Management and Development Association of Lausanne (IMD), about 99% of Italian companies are “family companies.” Up to 90% of Swedish family companies, 85 to 90% of Switzerland, 80% of Spain, 75% of the UK, and 70% of Portugal. These family companies have an advantage of more than two-thirds of the national production and employment in Western Europe. In the United States, the “family company”, which accounts for about 96% of the company’s number, produces more than half of the country’s merchandise and provides more than half of the country’s services. 500 of the largest private companies operated or owned by one or two families hold 1/3 of U.S. wealth.
