In recent years, many large European companies have taken the lead in the production of green products and have sought ways to stop the destruction of the environment. One of the reasons they do so is the pressure from the green sports community, the government and the European Community. For example, in the European Community’s ambitious single market plan, there are strict new European anti-pollution standards. In addition, more and more companies have found that protecting the environment not only saves money but also increases their competitiveness. The basic reason is simple: products that are environmentally friendly have a good market. A survey conducted by the European Community in 1992 showed that 67% of Dutch people and 82% of Germans would consider environmental pollution when shopping in a supermarket. In the same year, a survey conducted in the United Kingdom showed that more than half of British shoppers said that they will choose based on whether or not they are conducive to the environment.
