关于《韩子·初见秦》的作者(印说者)与韩非之死,顾题思义,自然是要考辨事实的真伪,论定历史的是非。这无疑是对韩非及其思想体系作出科学评价的根本前提。自从司马光在《资治通鉴》中,首次明确地指出《初见秦》是韩非使秦、初见秦王的说辞,并发表了一通评论之后.韩非就顿时成了历史的罪人,蒙受了“首欲覆其宗国”的千年沉冤。因此,对于《初见秦》作者的探讨,就不单纯是辨别真伪、澄清史实的问题,而是事关韩非其人是爱国者或卖国者的大是大非问题。至于韩非之死,包括从韩非使秦,直到狱中自杀等一系列历史事实,从司马迁写作《史记》之时起,在他唯心主义英雄史观的指导下,以及在当时社会道德观的影响下,就已经被严重地歪曲了。而且,通过二千年来辗转因袭,以误传误,至今仍充斥于很多历史学论著之中。在这里,本文拟就上述史实问题,谈谈自己所作过的探索,相信对于恢复历史真实,正确评价韩非及其思想,是必要和有益的。
