The foundry M&T magazine in October 1981 introduced the sand processing system of the cast iron workshop of Buderus, Federal Republic of Germany, which was of great interest to us at that time. In 1983, the company’s manager, Dr. Paul Spen, came to Shanghai to introduce the system, called the tower layout, as shown in the attached figure. This design is from the point of view of material flow. The sand treatment system has a total height of 44.3 meters and consists of two identical units with a treatment capacity of 2 x 120 m~3/h. The old sand dropped on the sand falling machine is sent to a height of nearly 40 meters after being subjected to magnetic separation. It is a bucket elevator with a speed of 1m/s from 300m~3/hr; it is distributed to two units by a belt conveyor, each unit is again subjected to a multi-angle sieve, a boiling cooling bed,
