欧洲隧道公司已经按1986年签订的特许权中的承诺,于1999年底向英、法两国政府提交了关于修建第二座英吉利海峡隧道的可行性研究报告。 欧洲隧道公司提交了两种方案:1)通行小车的双层单孔公路隧道;2)有中间隔墙的单孔双线客货运铁路隧道。 公路隧道方案设计有2×3.5 m的车道和2.5 m的路肩,隧道外径为15 m,将用土压平衡盾构开挖,采用双层衬砌(先用预制管片,后用现浇混凝土)。估计该隧道的造价为43亿美元。 铁路隧道方案设计为单孔隧道,内部分割为单向行驶的两个单线和独立的服务隧道。隧道的内径为13 m,外径大约为15m,估计造价48亿美元。
The European Tunnel Company has submitted to the British and French Governments a feasibility study on the construction of the second Channel Tunnel in late 1999, as promised in the concession signed in 1986. The European Tunnel Company has submitted two options: 1) a double-deck, single-hole highway tunnel for passing cars; and 2) a single-hole, two-passenger, passenger and freight railway tunnel with a central partition wall. The highway tunnel scheme is designed with 2 × 3.5 m lanes and 2.5 m road shoulders. The tunnel has an outer diameter of 15 m. It will be excavated with earth pressure balance shield using double-layer lining (precast pipe segments and cast-in-place concrete used later) . The cost of the tunnel is estimated at 4.3 billion U.S. dollars. The railway tunnel scheme is designed as a single-hole tunnel, internally divided into two single-lane and independent service tunnels traveling in one direction. The tunnel has an internal diameter of 13 m and an external diameter of about 15 m, with an estimated cost of 4.8 billion U.S. dollars.
