By analyzing the relationship between the acceptability of “Two Kings” and the development of calligraphy in different periods in the Tang Dynasty, this paper argues that the prosperity of calligraphy in Shengzhong Tang relies on the inheritance of the traditional “Two Kings” On the other hand, it relies more on innovations that can jump out of the traditional “two kings.” The monotony of the calligraphy in the early Tang Dynasty and the decline of the calligraphy in the late Tang Dynasty are the results limited to the “two kings” and the “two kings”, which undoubtedly has beneficial enlightenment for how we study the tradition in the present calligraphy.
