His subtle ups and downs in the form of mood novels are presented. The author not only succeeded in describing his own mood of “life and death” but also successfully conveyed the state of mind to readers’ hearts through silent descriptions. I believe that this successful state of mind description is inseparable from the author’s unique expression skills used in Kinosaki. This article attempts to analyze the creative performance of Shiga Naoya’s masterpiece “In Kinosaki” in order to explore the characteristics of Shiga Naoya’s mood novel “In Kinosaki” in terms of creative expression.
