农民画是在中国特定历史与社会条件下产生的一个特殊种类,后称为“现代民间绘画”,表现了中国农民饱满的生活热情和高昂的乐观主义精神。70年代初,陕西户县农民画蜚声国内外。70年代末,上海金山县农民画以其清新的格调、浓郁的生活气息,又掀起农民画热潮。新时期的文化春风化雨,中国农民画似雨后春笋般不断冒尖,全国各地都涌现出不同规模、不同风格的农民画创作群体。1984年,文化部、中国美协在北京首次举办“全国农民画作品展”。1988年,文化部命名陕西户县、上海金山、嘉兴秀洲区、湖南麻阳等51个县(区)为首批“中国现代民间绘画画乡”。这些画乡的农民画作品,
