Addition of alloying elements to iron, steel and other metals improves their properties such as hardenability, strength at room and elevated temperatures, corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance. For the United States, all the alloying elements produced, the only easy access to molybdenum to meet demand. Molybdenum-containing materials are important materials in many aspects of today’s energy production and transport processes, for example, systems for the generation of atomic, gas, or liquefied gases and other power sources that transport gas and fuel over long distances using molybdenum-containing tubes.
