Recent technological advances have simplified the attenuation measurements of metals in the frequency range up to 60 MHz and have now accumulated data on a range of ferrous and non-ferrous metal samples and it has been found that the average grain size , The maximum grain size, and the item size independent of grain size to interpret these results; the latter approximately varies with the square of the frequency and the absolute temperature and can be attributed to the dislocation interaction. Some examples of the results obtained are given in the paper, and their problems with mechanical properties are discussed, in particular, some of the factors that are of interest to contribute to the non-destructive evaluation of fracture toughness.
