During platelet activation, intracellular Ca2 + concentration increased. makes an important impact. How ADP causes an increase in Ca2 + concentration and what signaling mechanism it uses is not clear. It is unclear whether ADP plays a role as an interaction with one or more ADP receptors on platelets. This article describes some of the relevant data and leads to some experimental conclusions about the number and nature of ADP receptors on human platelets.
