In this study, 30 intermediate-level interpreters were used as subjects to compare the two groups (with or without metaphorical translation) and the inter-group (with or without background knowledge). The research uses the key points of the triangle verification to examine the translator’s assessment scores and transcribing data. In the analysis, the questionnaire and interview are combined. Studies have shown that metaphor greatly increases the difficulty of visual interpretation; on the other hand, background knowledge helps to reduce the difficulty of metaphor visual interpretation. The experimental results provide a new explanation for the English-Chinese metaphor visual interpretation process, which is instructive for interpreting teaching.
