美国网民数量巨大。调查显示,美国有网瘾的人占网民人数的10%～12%,其中加州、得克萨斯州、纽约州的比例还要高一些。青少年是美国各年龄层民众中使用网络最普遍的群体。据统计,美国12～17岁的青少年上网比例高达93%。美国很早就注意到网络上瘾问题。不过,关于网瘾的定义和治疗,特别是对于是否把网络上瘾作为一种精神疾病对待,美国医学界还存在争论。
The number of U.S. Internet users is huge. According to the survey, people with Internet addiction account for 10% to 12% of the Internet users in the United States, with California, Texas and New York even higher. Adolescents are among the most commonly used networks of people in all ages in the United States. According to statistics, the proportion of adolescents aged 12 to 17 in the United States reaches as high as 93%. The United States has long noticed the Internet addiction problem. However, the definition and treatment of addiction, especially for the Internet addiction as a mental illness treatment, the US medical community is still controversial.
