In this paper, the effects of rare earth gadolinium (Gd) on the microstructure and properties of Ti-6Al-4V and IMI829 alloys were studied. The results show that the behavior of Gd in these two alloys is different. In the Ti-6Al-4V alloy, Gd-Ti-Al type precipitated particles are formed by adding 0.25-1.0wt% Gd. When the Gd content exceeds 0.5wt% or more, the precipitates are enriched in the grain boundaries in the form of stripes, Deteriorate the malleability of the alloy at high temperature (above 950 ℃); add 0.1-1.0wt% Gd to the alloy IMI829 to refine the microstructure of the alloy and produce Gd-Sn-Ti type precipitated particles to improve the tensile properties of the alloy The tensile properties of IMI829 alloy containing 0.2wt% Gd were the best. When the content of Gd in IMI829 alloy is high, although the precipitates are roughened and unevenly distributed, the tensile properties of the alloy are still improved due to the grain refinement.
