With its distinctive personality and characteristics, Asian American literature occupies a special place in contemporary American mainstream literature. Many Asian writers found the conflicts and intercross between cultures in their pursuit of self-identity, expressing their confusion over cultural identities and their longing for the fusion of Eastern and Western cultures. Carlos Blosson is a key figure of early Asian writers. His masterpiece “The United States in Mind” reproduces in the form of autobiography the Filipinos’ experience of racial discrimination and racial assimilation and cultural identity construction in the pursuit of the American Dream . This paper mainly studies the cultural identity construction of “America in the heart”. By analyzing the identity anxiety and cultural integration experienced after the protagonist immigrated to the United States, this paper explores the identity localization and reconstruction of Asian ethnic groups in the context of multiculturalism.
