1992年6月发生的兰德斯地震使南加利福尼亚的应力重新分布,导致一些地区发生的小震减少而邻近区域的地震活动增强,这种情况一直持续到现在。该地震也改变了大小地震的比例,在其震中约100km的范围内发生了更多的小震。这意味着南加利福尼亚未来地震的概率估值由于兰德斯地震而发生了变化。南加利福尼亚大地震发生概率增大最多的地方是随后在1999年10月赫克托矿7.1级地震中滑动最大的那个地区。
The Landes earthquake in June 1992 redistributed the stress in southern California, resulting in the reduction of some earthquakes in some areas and the increase of earthquakes in the neighboring areas, which has persisted to this day. The earthquake also changed the proportion of large and small earthquakes, and more small earthquakes occurred in the range of about 100 km in its epicenter. This means that the probabilistic valuation of future earthquakes in Southern California has changed due to the Landers earthquake. The area with the largest increase in probability of occurrence of the Southern California earthquake was the area that slid most later in the 7.1-magnitude Hector Mine in October 1999.
