Low-energy radioactive radiation is often used in the treatment of a range of benign skin diseases. In some cases, skin cancer may occur at the treatment site after a latency period of 20 to 30 years due to failure to consider the total irradiation dose. It has been reported that the most important risk factor for patients suffering from radiation skin cancer is the total amount of ray accumulation, and it is found that the dose of radiation causing facial radiation dermatitis is lower than that of the hand. The length of the skin cancer incubation period is inversely proportional to the dose of radiation. This article describes the occurrence of chronic radiation dermatitis due to low-dose radiation therapy in 76 patients with benign disease.
