The US Air Force Electronic Systems Center’s Imaging Systems Office may in future be able to augment JSIPS’s theater-wide processing needs for a wide range of multi-spectral images with civilian satellite imagery. In June 1993, the Electronic Systems Center signed a contract of approximately $ 4.8 million with France’s Matra CAP Systems, Inc., for a configurable ground station to receive downstream images sent from civilian “SPOT” satellite systems Configured for Samsung, operated by the French SPOT imaging company. The project, known as Eagle Vision, was funded by the Office of the Secretary of Defense from a foreign comparative test (FCT) program.
