Since the advent of personal computers (PCs), it is normal for a legitimate user to copy a package. The U.S. Copyright Act of 1976 states that it is legal to file a copy for archival purposes or to prevent electronic and mechanical damage. Some software vendors are also proud of their software systems that make it easy for users to copy files. The process of copying is as simple as placing an empty disk on a drive, placing a floppy disk in need of a program on another drive, typing a copy command from the keyboard, and immediately getting the same copy as the source.
