The stability calculation of pit bottom soil is an important part of the design of deep foundation pits for underground walls. Up to now, many formulas have been developed. Except for a few empirical formulas and the main and passive earth pressure balance formulas at the bottom of the wall, all common formulae are assumed to be unstable. It is due to the sliding of the soil along the sliding surface. Practical experience shows that the sliding surface is generally impossible to pass through the wall and can only be counted from the bottom of the wall. I think that they can be summarized in two general categories: The slip surface is located at the bottom of the wall. Due to the low shear strength of shallow soils, this type of instability is more likely to occur. The other type is that the slip surface is located in the deep soil below the level of the wall, due to the deep soil resistance. High shear strength, the possibility of such instability is small. Common stability formulas are classified in the attached table.
