The current cover image (pictured above) comes from Medical Road, a book written by Prof. Ron King and Peking Union Medical College Hospital. The picture records a pregnant woman around 1500 AD, dying of life due to unsuccessful childbirth. At the time of dying, she and her husband both hope to save the new life in their belly. Because her husband was a butcher of a barrow, pregnant women strongly demanded that he be given a caesarean section, otherwise both mother and child would not survive. As a result, her husband quickly cut the wife’s abdomen within a few minutes to save the baby.
