1978年开始,我院与上海市机械制造工艺研究所和一机部第二设计研究院一起,在实验室内对一种以水玻璃为粘结剂、有机酯为硬化剂的新型造型、制芯混合料进行研制。经过大量实验,取得此类型砂混合料有关的新砂烘干,型砂配比,性能及硬化速度的控制,旧砂再生等方面的详细数据,并试浇了一批铸铁件。在此基础上,1979年5月结合上海印刷机铸造厂外贸技改任务,在该厂设计、建造了一条“水玻璃有机酯(乙二醇二醋酸酯)自硬砂
