In New Delhi, consumers are buying dried fruits instead of nuts because of the relative low price of dried fruit due to soaring prices of nuts. Dried fruit producers are worried that a rise in dried fruit prices will result in a decline in dried fruit sales. Consumers buy dried fruits including cranberries, apricots, plums and figs to replace almonds, cashews and pistachios. This year, people prefer to use dried fruit as a gift rather than nuts. Although the price of nuts has led to a 5% -10% decrease in demand, the price of dried fruits has not declined.
