亚洲区域遥感培训中心(ARRSTC~*)于1979年下半年在泰国亚洲理工学院(AIT~**)创建。它的宗旨是向亚洲及太平洋地区的发展中国家传授遥感技术。1982年9月,首次举办为期4个月的短期培训。到目前为止,短期培训已举办13期,来自亚洲19个国家254名学员(其中我国15人)接受了培训。该中心与亚洲理工学院的其他系科一样,师资和经费多由发达国家的一些组织赞助。这几年主要赞助机构有:美国国际发展署(USAID)、联合目亚太经社会(ESCAP/UN)、西德卡尔—杜伊斯堡协会(CDG)及法国政府的一些部门。泰国政府对其发展也很重视,特别是泰国诗琳
The Asian Regional Remote Sensing Training Center (ARRSTC ~ *) was founded in late 1979 for the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT ~ **) in Thailand. Its purpose is to teach remote sensing technologies to developing countries in Asia and the Pacific. In September 1982, short-term training of 4 months was held for the first time. To date, 13 short-term training sessions have been held and 254 trainees from 19 countries in Asia, of whom 15 are from China, have been trained. Like other faculties at the Asian Institute of Technology, the center has more faculty and funding sponsored by some organizations in developed countries. The main sponsors in recent years include: USAID, ESCAP / UN, West Germany - Duisburg Association (CDG) and the French government. The Thai government also attaches great importance to its development, especially in Thailand
