“Secke Balei” is ostensibly a film about Taiwan’s Aboriginal Anti-Japanese War. In essence, it relates to soul, belief and choice. It is a film that seeks soul ownership and identity in the name of resistance against Japan. The film’s main character has a different pursuit of soul ownership: Mona Luddingly willing to lose the body, never allow the soul to convert; flower Gang from beginning to end are painfully intertwined in the two cultures; iron wood tile Lilian wandering in ethnic hatred can not extricate themselves. These different beliefs and pursuits reflect the complex cultural affiliation and identity of the colonial era.
