Objective To understand the effect of prolonged exposure to high temperature on workers’ ECGs. Methods The high-temperature group was 613 workers engaged in high-temperature work along the railways in the public works section of Guang-Mei-Shan Railway Company. 330 workers from Guangzhou-Meizhou-Shantou Railway Company as in-house workers, train drivers and administrative staff were selected as the control group. The electrocardiogram results Comparative analysis, data processing using χ2 test. Results The abnormal rate of electrocardiogram in high temperature group was higher than that in control group (χ2 = 12.00, P <0.01). The main changes were arrhythmia, left ventricular hypertrophy, ventricular hypertrophy, bundle branch and branch block and ST-T abnormality. Conclusion Long-term exposure to high temperature has adverse effects on the cardiovascular system. Periodic ECG testing can help early detection of high temperature damage to the cardiovascular system and protect the health of workers at high temperatures.
