Fiberoptic bronchoscope (FOB) is an importantinstrument for respiratory disorder examination anddifficult airway management. The fiberoptic intubationcan avoid the mechanical stimulus tooropharyngolaryngeal structures thereby it is likely toattenuate hemodynamic responses during orotrachealintubation. However, the relevant studies showedconflicting results. In this study, we observed thehemodynamic responses to orotracheal intubation usingan FOB and a direct laryngoscope (DLS) in healthyadults under general anesthesia to examine the efficacy ofthe FOB in attenuating the hemodynamic responses toorotracheal intubation.
