无人否认.《红楼梦》是个悲剧,而且是“悲剧之悲剧”、“彻头彻尾之悲剧”(王国维《红楼梦评论》.然而由于“悲剧”这一概念的西方起源给东土对其理解所形成的导向,在具体阐释《红楼梦》悲剧的审美价值时往往“削足适履”,把《红楼梦》视为西方悲剧观念的一个注脚.要真正认识和把握《红楼梦》悲剧的独特性,必须从中国的文化传统出发,“具体问题具体分析”.”当然,这样做并不排斥向西方悲剧理论的借鉴,更不能忽视马克思主义经典作家对悲剧产生的社会历史必然性的科学阐释.
