The purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of 3-T proton MR spectroscopy (1H-MRS) in the differential diagnosis of high and low grade gliomas, neoplasms and necrosis, edema and normal tissues. Forty-four patients with gliomas and 4 patients with meningiomas were reviewed for MR data. Normalized metabolite concentrations (ncho, NNAA, nCr and lactate / lipid (nLL)] were calculated as well as the metabolite concentration
