After a long period of downturn, the international steel market has been gradually turning around since the second half of the year. Asia’s economy has recovered from the financial turmoil, giving the steel market a boost. However, to resume the past prosperity, the steel industry still has a long way to go. The performance of the market to regain its vitality is to increase orders first. In the United States, orders for primary metals, including steel, rose another 0.4% in June after rising for two consecutive months, followed by increases in output. According to the latest statistics from the International Iron and Steel Institute, crude steel output in 63 countries and regions in the world in July was 64.0 million tons, an increase of 1.3% over the same period of previous year. In particular, crude steel production in Asia has recovered markedly. Third, major steel companies in the United States have successively raised the prices of their products in the near future. In early August, the U.S. National Corporation announced that the sales price of hot-rolled steel, hot-dip galvanized steel and electro-galvanized steel produced after October 3 increased by an average of 20 U.S. dollars per tonne.
