In this paper, the finite-difference time-domain method is used to analyze and optimize the transverse electromagnetic horn antenna (the excitation source is the ultra-wideband electromagnetic pulse fed by the coaxial line) with the front end being a parallel plate transmission line. The dimensions of the parallel plate transmission line and the transverse electromagnetic horn are optimized, Some characteristic parameters of the antenna are given as a function of frequency, the radiation field distribution of the antenna, the energy pattern of the antenna radiation, and the effect of the antenna length on the gain.
