Parvalbumin is a Ca2 + -binding protein with a molecular weight of 12,000 in the muscle and brain. It has been isolated from rat testes. Microalbumin mRNA is shown in the testis using rat microtiter cDNA probes, indicating that it is synthesized in the testes; testicular microglobin is also the product of the same gene encoding muscle microalbumin. Micro-albumin can be localized to the acrosome region of Leydig cells and mature sperm cells (stage 1 to 15) by immunohistochemistry.
