Objective To investigate the level of uranium in five kinds of vegetable products in the area around a uranium mine in our country and provide the basic data for the uranium radioactivity and food safety assessment in this area. Methods The surface soils inside and outside the mining area as well as common edible vegetables in farmland were collected, and the uranium content was detected by ICP-MS. Results The highest content of edible part of lettuce was 1.09 μg / g and the lowest content of edible part of coriander was 0.0850 μg / g. The content of uranium in vegetable samples did not exceed the standard limit and was at a safe level. The uranium content of farmland soil in the study area is at the background level, the uranium content in the soil is safe level, and the tailings slag accumulation reservoir and the surrounding road are high value areas. Conclusion The uranium content in farmland soils and foodstuffs in the study area is at a safe level and is not polluted. The tailings dregs and the transport roads around the slag are polluted, and further treatment measures need to be taken.
