研究出版社的性质,首先需要对出版社所生产和经营的主要产品——图书有一个基本的认识。图书是知识的载体。它是由表达知识内容的书稿和适于大量复制书稿内容的物质载体相结合而成。书稿和物质载体两者缺一,就不成其为图书。因此,既不能只着眼于书稿,说图书是精神产品;也不能只着眼于它的物质载体而说图书是物质产品;笔者认为,宜把图书这种劳动产品定义为载运着书稿形式精神产品的物质产品,或者说它是文化产品。文化产品不同于知识产品,不同于文化用品。知识产品是指文章、科技成果等精神生产成果的直接体现,文化产品是在物质生产过程中大量复制而成的知识产品。纸张、文体用具是掌握文化需要使用的文化用
