最初接触到卡布奇诺咖啡,是在一九七O年代初,我在耶鲁大学读书的时候。那时城里咖啡馆不少,都是希腊人开的,所谓coffee house,很像香港的茶餐厅,是一般人吃早餐、吃汉堡包,甚至喝咖啡聊天的地方。那咖啡实在不怎么样,淡而无味,却又苦涩难喝,真不知是用什么希腊秘方泡制出来的。我有一个同学,是新英格兰世家出身,从小就经常跟父母到意大利度假,颇有点亨利·詹姆斯笔下的洋派
The first contact with cappuccino was in the early 1970s when I was studying at Yale University. At that time, many of the city’s cafes, are open to the Greeks, the so-called coffee house, much like Hong Kong’s cafe, is the average person eating breakfast, eating hamburgers, or even chatting with coffee.
