The word “TOEFL” is no stranger to today’s young Chinese. To many people, “TOEFL” is like a key to opening the door to ideals and wisdom, because passing the TOEFL exam means getting a “green card” to go abroad and a pass for further education, so it is the continent Many students pursued the goal. On March 7, 1996, the Education Testing Center, headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey, made a move to change the focus of attention for many people, especially Asians, and appointed Hong Kong female academics as administrator of the International Language Program Director. This appointment made her the first Asian female executive to have taken the TOEFL since 1961. This is a challenging position as it has to be responsible for all planning and day-to-day operations of international language education, including the TOEFL test. What is interesting is that 25 years ago, the community incense passed the TOEFL test before entering Columbia for Applied Linguistics and obtained a Ph.D. in Education from there.
