中国的古建筑多显奇迹,不但美观、精巧、抗震,还常现奇异之象。其中以佛教建筑尤为突出,高超的工艺和佛教的神秘融为一体,令现代建筑学家们大为惊奇。在山西省浑源县南恒山峡谷半山腰间,有一座悬空寺,建于北魏晚期,上载危岩,下临深谷,亭台楼阁错落有致地镶在翠屏峰的万仞峭壁上,神奇而又惊险。相传金、元、明时期重修时,许多工匠望而止步,不敢承揽这项工程。悬空寺多次遭地震而无损,被誉为我国建筑史上一大奇迹。古曾有诗赞:
China’s ancient buildings have many miracles. Not only are they beautiful, sophisticated, and resistant to earthquakes, they are also often strange images. Among them, Buddhist architecture is particularly prominent, superb craftsmanship and the mystery of Buddhism blend into one, which surprises modern architects. In the midst of the mountainous slopes of Nanheng Mountain in Wuyuan County, Shanxi Province, there is a temple that was built in the late Northern Wei Dynasty. It was built on a dangerous rock and entered a deep valley. The pavilions and terraces were strewn in the cliffs on the Wanchong Peak. And thrilling. According to legend, when it was rebuilt in the Golden, Yuan and Ming periods, many craftsmen stopped and dared not take this project. The Hanging Temple was damaged by earthquakes many times and was honored as a major miracle in the history of Chinese architecture. Ancient poetry praise:
