Recent studies at home and abroad show that the majority of neuronal somatic cells producing corticotropin releasing factor (CRF) are not located in the medial basal hypothalamus (MBH) but in the hypothalamus area other than MBH. However, the axons of the CRF neurons pass through the posterior segment of the optic chiasm and reach the mid-length and nerve lobes of the MBH. Electrical stimulation of hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (PVH) in rats and dogs increases ACTH release. After the destruction of PVH, Chung Lung neurosecretory substances decreased.
