This article describes the combination and design of systems for automated test laser range finders. The key components of the system are a precision delay generator and a laser simulator. The former is used to simulate the transit time of laser pulses used to generate echo light pulses that are fed into the receiver section of the range finder. Describes methods for time delay and analysis of various time delay effects. It also discusses calibration methods and measurement accuracy issues.
