Recently there was a great deal of controversy over the formation and growth rate of the continental crust in the Archean era. Two major factions emerged. One group believes that in the early stages of Earth’s history, the crust was separated and mantle cycles occurred again and again in the later younger crustal formation. Another group believes that the continental crust periodically or continuously increases due to the chemical differentiation of the mantle or the partial melting of the mantle-derived matter. In this paper, we discuss two North Atlantic craton from the perspective of field geology, geochemistry and isotope data
