Mr. Li Gongpu (1902 - 1946) is a famous patriotic democrat, a political activist and a social educator of the people. Mr. Li Gongpu is a loyal friend of our party. As early as 1935, he resolutely responded to the call made by the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party about uniting the feuds of impending aggression and unanimously resisting Japan and took part in the national salvation meeting of the people from all walks of life in the country, and was elected as one of the responsible persons. On November 22, 1936, six people, including Shen Junru and Zou Taofen, were both arrested and detained by Kuomintang authorities. This is the “seven gentleman’s events” that have shocked both China and other countries. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, he risked his life to and fro the enemy rear and forefront to carry out anti-Japanese propaganda and education work. He twice visited Yan’an, a sacred site of revolution, and learned and learned profoundly that only the Communist Party is the only hope for victory in the war against Japan. His report collection “Northern Enemy of Northern China - Jin Chaji”, which he authored, enthusiastically celebrated the lofty revolutionary spirit of the Chinese Communist Party and the anti-Japanese army and people under his leadership. After the victory of 1945, he served as a member of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League and actively participated in the patriotic democratic struggle. On July 11, 1946, he was assassinated by KMT reactionaries in Kunming for a total of 44 years of age. This year marks the 38th anniversary of Mr. Gong Pu’s martyrdom. Our magazine published the memorial articles of Comrade Zhang Guomong, daughter of Mr. Gong Park, in memory of his memory.
