In May this year, two world-renowned events took place in the world. One is our Wenchuan earthquake on May 12 in Sichuan Province. The earthquake has now caused more than 300,000 casualties and a total economic loss of over 400 billion yuan. The idyllic homeland instantly turned into ruins. Tens of millions turned into victims in a blink of an eye. The other one is that on May 26, the U.S. “Phoenix” spacecraft flew safely to the Martian Arctic Plains to analyze Martian soils to determine if there are signs of life on Mars. The two major events can not help but make people confused: humans can now boarded the moon and made several visits to Mars, indicating that science and technology have become quite advanced. However, why can not accurately predict earthquakes that occur beneath their feet? To minimize the loss of life and property it?
