Integrated modeling is a new way of integrating the knowledge and models of different disciplines and different research areas and taking advantage of their potential for strategic planning of basin water resources management. A comprehensive MOSDEW model has been developed in the Neckar valley. The model consists of nine sub-models in series and covers large-scale hydrology, groundwater flow, water demand, agricultural production, point and non-point source pollution, chemical and biological water quality etc. The model is being tested and validated in the Neckar valley and is compared with the ecological, hydrological and socio-economic boundary conditions in the Wemer River basin in West Africa and the Chirchik-Ahangaran-Keles basin in Central Asia (CHAB). The results show that, because the model is very accurate, it is expected to be used to simulate the strategic planning of river basin water resources management.
