古人修志书,有其要求,他们对民族民间音乐的立场观点与我们今天是有所不同,然而他们的某些方法仍可借鉴。今日,我国已进入大编志书年代,八十年代以来,我们着手编辑民族音乐集成,民族音乐大量地被采集与介绍;我国五十六个民族的血缘关系,民族的语言系属等等基本上已考察清楚,特别可贵的是各民族均培养出自己民族的专业人才,这对我们今天编纂《民族音乐志》是具备了优越条件的。编纂《民族音乐志》,可能有两种不同的编纂方法:一种是《民族音乐志)地方卷的编纂方法;另一种是《民族音乐志》民族卷的编纂方法。我主张以第二种方法编纂《民族音乐志》。我国不论是南方或北方,五十六个民族不仅与我
