I. Introduction The eight isometric multicolored Lohan found in Yi County, 60 miles southwest of Beijing, is a famous ceramic Buddha statue in Liao Dynasty. In 1913, Friedrich Perzensky published his inspection report on these caves, which was the earliest published article in the West about Lohan in Yixian County. After the Buddha statue was taken out of the caves, it was shipped to western museums after several handshake by businessmen. The Nelson Museum in Kansas City, Missouri, the University of Pennsylvania Museum in Philadelphia, the Ontario Museum in Toronto, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the British Museum in London. Unfortunately, the heads of statues hidden in the Museum of Ontario and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts were later repaired by their descendants, otherwise the Lohan of the latter museum is the finest of these statues.
