Fine dispersion or full exfoliation of nanoparticles in polymer matrices is one of the most important factors to achieve high-performance and multifunctional polymer nanocomposites.In the past years,our research group is making efforts to realize homogeneous and stable dispersion (and/or high orientation) of carbon nanomaterials (e.g., carbon nanotubes, graphene) in aqueous and organic media as well as polymer matrices by using "hybridization" approach via effective combination (via hydrogen bonding, π-π stacking, electrostatic interaction, etc) among different kinds of nanoscale building blocks (e.g., carbon nanomaterials, clay) (Scheme 1).
