  中心碳代谢(CCM)传统意义上包括磷酸腺苷路径(EMP)、磷酸戊糖途径(PP)以及三羧酸循环(TCA),该代谢是生物体所需能量的主要来源,并为体内其他代谢提供前体物质,且CCM中关键酶的酶活及蛋白表达水平具有遗传分辨性。鉴于CCM在所有生命体中的重要作用,越来越受到重视。生物体内的化学反应都是在酶的催化下进行的,细胞中多酶系统高度协调,有条不紊地进行新陈代谢。氧化还原反应是主要的化学反应之一,而氧化还原酶是负责催化这些反应的酶,其重要性不言而喻。在三羧酸循环、磷酸戊糖途径等代谢途径中,氧化还原酶起着关键酶的作用。
